Antique Mirror Locket

Antique Mirror Locket
This is a custom piece I made for a client as a “Push Present”. I had no idea what that was – it’s a present the husband gives to his wife after she’s given birth. Typically, most presents of this nature result in something like a tennis bracelet. No thanks. I’m so happy to have been commissioned to make this instead. The inside has the baby’s initials engraved in a lovely script and of course, the opposite side is for the wee babe’s photo. It was a challenging custom job, but worth the effort!

It looks lovely. Challenging custom jobs make us grow as artists, for sure! I had never heard of a “push present” before either. I’d much rather have this necklace than a tennis bracelet for such an occasion. Actually, in general. I’m not a tennis bracelet kind of girl. Give me jewelry made with industrial metals like copper, titanium, steel…with an organic, vintage quality. I’m looking forward to reading your blog, Beth.

Thanks Jessica- I love your blog too. Yes, challenging custom jobs for sure make you grow. I’ve had quite a few lately. Hopefully, it will be worth the pain. I might be coming for a visit to Denver this summer. I’ll let you know if that happens. -Beth
